So this past weekend, my roommate and i decided to host our own dinner party. It was our post-Thanksgivi ng relaxing get-together with friends- family not invited! We debated what to cook, and wanted to keep it in the spirit of T-day, so we decided to do chicken instead of turkey.
Well my roommate had a brilliant idea that apparently she had seen once before. So we did Chicken on a Beer. Yep, you heard me- chicken on a beer. I don't know what the official title of this recipe is, so that's what we'll call it.
How to cook Chicken on a Beer? 1: Get a whole chicken (preferably vegetarian-fed or free-range). 2: Get a single can of cheap beer. (PBR or Steel Reserve work fine). 3: Drain the top half of the beer (either down your throat or i guess the drain works fine too if you have plenty of 'other' beer) 4: Pour some curry sauce into the beer can. (or whatever kind of sauce YOU like) 5: Slather the chicken with curry sauce. (again- whatever sauce You like) 6: Stand the chicken upright and stick that beer can right up its @$$.. go ahead, don't be shy, the chicken won't mind! But make sure it's sturdy, you don't want that chicken falling over! 7: Stuff some garlic and onions where it's neck used to be. 8: Keep only the bottom rack in the oven, you'll need the room for the chicken to stand. 9: Cook the chicken. (prepare everything else while the chicken's cooking. We made baked zucchini, mashed potatoes, fry-bread, and brownies!) 10: And then, just over an hour later, enjoy the best damn chicken you've ever tasted!
Seriously- I don't even like chicken that much, but i was going back for seconds and thirds! It was funny and fun- with friends- good times, good times.
I urge you to try it. Just because Thanksgiving only comes once a year doesn't mean you can't regularly enjoy fantastic dinner parties! Share food, laughter, and fun.
