John Edwards announced today his withdrawal from the U.S. Presidential campaign.

Edwards campaign has seen disappointing results in Iowa and New Hampshire, but perhaps most of all in his own native South Carolina where he came in third after Senators Obama and Clinton.

Senator Edwards based his bid for the Presidency on ending poverty, vigorously promoting education, and his staunch stand against capitalism. Most people, however, make political decisions based on emotion rather than logic (Scientific American, December 2006). The excitement, the relief, of propelling an intelligent, insightful, and hope-filled candidate who is not a white male into the American Presidency is irresistible.

John Edwards did not endorse another candidate but has asked both Senator Clinton and Senator Obama to promise to fight against poverty in America.
