My first day at the school went well. I arrived ten minutes before class begins and was able to meet and speak with the classroom teacher. Then I saw each of the students walk into the classroom and sit at their desks. They all noticed me sitting at a table in the back of the room, but nobody paid much attention to me at first. After she introduced me and encouraged the class to interact with me I quickly had a few new friends.

I am a student at PSU and am currently in a class where we will be volunteering at Winterhaven Middle School. It is a K-8 school, and last term I did a similar thing at an elementary school. I am looking forward to getting to know the staff, working with students, and maybe even going on a field trip or two.
