Located at 1002 SE Powell, on the east side of the Ross Island bridge, this 50 year old mainstay of Portland is something to behold. It's not far from anywhere. Whether you go at 10am on the weekend or 10pm on a weeknight, this space is the place to stuff your face. (I don't know if that sounds dumb or not, so don't ignore it for now.) I've been visiting the HCH or OHH for about 18 years and half of that time was traveling from 250 miles away. The best, if not the only true place, to go fuel up for a long road trip or the heavy workday. Some have said they like burgers and steak, but I in 18 years, I have never had anything other than the Denver or mushroom omelet with hotcakes. And maybe bacon. Seriously. Although it bothers some people, I have always liked their order first, sit second arrangement. Don't argue, just go with the flow. Walk the 17 feet through the line and see the amazing land of meat and dairy. The coffee is decent and the people watching is usually first-rate. I've sat next to many of the local television anchors, John Larroquette and I think the guy who played the Kite Man, from Pacific Power. Many years ago, my wife and I had our New Year's plans ruined for some reason and ended up there, by ourselves. The lady with the short straight hair, made the best breakfast-for-d  inner we could have asked for.
